Our classes have a low student-teacher ratio.This ensures that students get the absolute most out of their time at Szeged IPS, and this enables us to tailor our lessons to individual needs in an interactive way.

Enough sleep is a biological necessity, especially for elementary students, therefore class at IPS starts at 9 a.m. The students are more awake, rested, able to focus and express their ideas.

We teach in a positive, motivating and supportive atmosphere. Students will learn to respect and interact with fellow students who are from different cultures and countries.
Outdoor activities are included as part of our program. By playing outdoors kids feel a sense of freedom. This revives their energy so they can discover themselves and the world around.

Our Curricula

Szeged IPS teaches the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) along with the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC), which curricula are internationally recognized educational programmes for children aged 5-11 and 11-14 years old respectively. IPC is used by over 1000 schools in over 90 countries, while IMYC is implemented by over 140 schools in over 50 countries worldwide.

The aim of the IPC programme is to develop each student’s intellectual potential to its fullest with the help of an innovative methodology that approaches teaching through topics (units) rather than subjects, with the exception of core subjects such as Maths and Languages. Looking at this vast range of topics through the multiple lenses of Geography, Science, History, Music and Art, IPC teaches children not what to think, but rather how to think, developing their highly transferable skills such as critical and innovative thinking, team work as well as international mindedness. As regards the IMYC programme, the topic-based approach of IPC is replaced by a concept-focused curriculum, which allows for single subject teaching and learning whilst facilitating collaboration between the different academic subjects, linking all subject learning to a conceptual theme such as structures, discovery or creativity. With specific subject and personal learning goals, similarly to IPC, the IMYC curriculum also helps students connect their learning as well as developing their knowledge, skills and understanding.

After class it is time for fun and relaxation!

After lessons have finished, we offer chess, horseback riding, Hungarian folk dance, yoga, soccer, Robocode or French classes. We also have study groups in the afternoons – the children can then just enjoy their time at home with their parents without homework.


Games and sports develop children’s physical, social and cognitive development. Through outdoor play they develop social skills such as working well in groups, co-operation, empathy, interaction with other children and develop long lasting friendships.  Spending time outdoors will also help kids to understand, respect and love nature and science better.

Why choose us?

Our official language is English but we also offer Hungarian language from native Hungarians.

Hours 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Classes are 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. However, besides offering care in the morning 8 a.m. – 9 a.m., we offer sport and extracurricular activities as well as afternoon study from 2.30 p.m. – 5 p.m.


After finishing the 8th grade, our students will get a diploma which is accepted by international schools as well as Hungarian private and state schools.

Szeged IPS preschool is the equivalent level of the last year of Hungarian Kindergarten. We incorporate this into Szeged IPS as this is an important year to prepare the children’s self learning abilities in preparation for the IPC curriculum.
