Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts lessons are an important part of the curriculum from Grade 1 onwards, and we place strong emphasis on creative development at every grade level. When planning activities, teachers connect lessons to the current IPC (International Primary Curriculum) unit, creating meaningful cross-curricular links while also meeting the expectations of the Hungarian National Curriculum (NAT).

Seasonal changes, cultural celebrations, and important dates also inspire students’ projects. In our small classes, teachers are able to provide individual attention and encourage each child’s unique artistic expression.

Creativity, imagination, and the appreciation of the arts are central to our approach. Students explore a wide range of materials and techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, clay, sculpture, and mixed media. They are encouraged to express ideas, emotions, and personal experiences through art while gradually learning about famous artists, artistic movements, and visual culture from around the world.

In the lower grades, particular focus is placed on developing fine motor skills, confidence, aesthetic awareness, and joy in creating. As students grow older, they increasingly learn to plan projects independently, experiment with techniques, and reflect on their own work.

Music

Music education also has a special role throughout all year groups. We believe that music supports not only musical skills, but also concentration, memory, coordination, emotional development, and self-confidence.

Following the International Primary Curriculum allows us to teach music in a holistic and engaging way, often linked to the current IPC topic. Children discover how music connects to history, culture, storytelling, emotions, and global traditions.

In the early grades, students focus on rhythm patterns, pitch recognition, singing, movement, and making music together. They also become familiar with different families of instruments and musical styles from various cultures.

An important part of our programme is learning to play the recorder, which helps children develop musical literacy, breathing technique, listening skills, and ensemble playing. Through performances, concerts, and class music-making, students gain confidence and enjoyment in sharing music with others.

Physical Education

Physical Education is a key element of school life at every grade level. Our aim is to help children develop healthy habits, coordination, teamwork, perseverance, and a lifelong love of movement. Lessons take place in our school gymnasium, outdoors in the playground, and at external sports venues.

Children are introduced to a wide variety of sports and movement forms throughout the year. Weekly swimming lessons are part of the regular timetable from Grade 1, held at Tiszavirág Sportuszoda, where students learn to swim or improve their skills in small groups with qualified instructors.

In addition to swimming, students also have the opportunity to go ice skating during the winter season.

Through the Hungarian national Aktív Magyarország programme, during the 2025/2026 school year our students were able to participate in several exciting sports experiences, including:

  • Dragon boating
  • Skiing
  • Skateboarding instruction

These programmes give children the chance to discover new sports, challenge themselves, and enjoy active experiences beyond the traditional PE curriculum.

Our goal is for every child to find joy and confidence in movement, regardless of ability level.

ICT (Information and Communication Technology)

ICT lessons begin from Grade 3 with one lesson per week. Each child uses their own laptop during lessons, allowing students to develop practical digital skills in an individual and structured way.

Students learn:

  • correct and responsible computer use
  • keyboard and file management skills
  • online safety and digital awareness
  • presentation and document creation
  • basic coding and logical thinking
  • problem-solving through technology

We consider it essential that children learn how to use digital tools effectively, responsibly, and for purposeful learning rather than passive entertainment.

Through extracurricular clubs, students can further explore:

  • 3D printing
  • advanced coding activities
  • robotics and creative digital projects

Our goal is to prepare students confidently for the modern digital world while maintaining a healthy balance between technology and real-life experiences.
